The Balance of Risk

The Balance of Risk
The debut album The Balance of Risk was released in 1996 on the Centaur record label (Cen CD011) and consisted of a collection of songs covering a range of styles illustrating some of my musical influences.
With a strong emphasis on melody and accessibility it definitely has prog rock elements but not at the expense of good catchy songs.
A range of moods include an uptempo rocker with sequenced bass line ‘Second Chance’, an instrumental show opener ‘Showtime’, a piano/acoustic guitar ballad ‘Full Circle’, an eclectic ballad’ Ten Shades of Incredulity’ and a cover of an early Pallas classic ‘Heart Attack’ featuring original Pallas vocalist Euan Lowson.
Here’s what Holland’s Hemisphere Music had to say:
“This is a relatively new name to the Rock Progressive scene, but there is a potentially huge songwriting talent at work here! Balance Of Risk is his debut album and a glowing example of the Glasgow born (sic) keyboard player’s songwriting and arranging abilities it certainly is!”
Here’s what Holland’s ARFM’s Bruce Gall had to say:
“Excellent and very diverse album”
