I love progressive rock of the 70s. I did see Genesis with PG two times in the early 70s (Lamb lies down) and the canadian band The Musical Box three times. This year they will repeat the LLDOB tour and I hope they will picture the show on video.

How are you doing? I agree with a lot of what you said in your about me section. I feel the same way about trying to categorize my music tastes. I have a project that i just came out with that i would love you to listen to and maybe post. Ah yes…I remember Stranger with fondness. I agree with your appraisal. One thing Grant and Graeme Murray were really good at was writing chorus vocal hooks: “Gone for good, gone for good ye-heh”, “Ooooh-ooooh-ooooh Borderlah-heen” and the classic “Waiting for sunrah-heese!” Very 80s, a bit cheesy, but totally memorable, so job done in that department.

Seem to remember other past members being Rab Adams on keyboards (saw him play with Stranger at the Rob Roy in Greenock all dressed up and posing like Nick Rhodes. They had another bass player though. He and you went on to form the magnificent Eye Level: a whole different musical proposition! but with equal merits and shortcomings you ascribe to Stranger. Would be interested to read your appraisal of that band.

If they ever do get back together to rehearse, some new song titles are obvious: Back For Good, Waiting For Sunset, etc.

I host a synth/EM show on http://www.arfm.co.uk and I’d be interested to play a track from “Balance..” on an upcoming show with your permission. I remember buying the Cd from Dave at CDS many years ago. Probably when it was first released. Excellent and very diverse album.

I haven’t had time to do this and I also wanted to really get to know the album before I made some comments. I have found in the past that it can really take time to get ‘comfortable’ with it before making comments. I will get there soon!

I submitted a comment on 4/7, while I was still reeling at the shock of my girlfriend & I being turned away for the show in Alexandria the night before. I was a little pissed, but I will make the trek to see the rescheduled show on 5/9. You see, I am a devoted fan of ELP, and a foregiving one. My girlfriend, on the other hand (not a true fan) will not return with me to the show on 5/9, due to her own convictions. However… how’s this for irony – I will be taking my 15 yr old son to the 5/9 show for his 1st “concert”. It just so happens that my first concert was ELP in ‘72, and guess how old/young I was then… yep – 15!!! I guess it was meant to be this way. The way I figure it, there will be several more appearances before then, which should give E & L plenty of time to fine-tune their performance. “C’est la vi”
